I am using Windows 8 Developer preview since it’s launch but one stuff which I does not like on this OS is that, it comes with Metro UI Start interface and you need to click on many options for power off computer. Windows 8 Start menu is not enjoyable and becomes hard to find an installed program on system. So, I was really missing Windows 7 Start menu in Windows 8 developer preview and finally I got one registry hack to get back the same Windows 7 menu in Windows 8 DP also. It is very small and easy to use, that we can use to get the Start menu exactly similar to Windows 7. Few reasons that we like Windows 7 Classic Start menu include search box, programs, easy to use, power off button and many more.
How to get Windows 7 Start Menu in Windows 8 ?
1. Open Registry using ((Win + R > Regedit > OK) RUN box.
2. Now go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer. Here you can see one key RPEnabled double click on it set value 1 to 0 then press OK and exit from Registry Editor.
Well, that’s it! Just restart your system and you can see Windows 7 Start menu in Windows 8.
