Speedup Firefox/Skype/Chrome/Thunderbird Starting – SpeedFox 2.0

Firefox, Skype, Chrome and Thunderbird are the most popular applications that almost all internet users use daily. But after some time of installation, these applications become slow and take a long time to startup as the profile database takes a while to load in the beginning. To solve this problem, you can use a freeware application called SpeedFox that boosts the startup time of these applications. The Developers of this app claim that it can boost the startup speed of all the supported programs to up to 3 times faster than normal speed.

I am sure that some of my technical visitors will want to know how this small application will increase the speed. Firefox uses a SQLITE database to store most of settings and the reason why these applications become slow is because the database size increases day by day hence it takes longer to access it. SpeedFox 2.0 just optimizes this database and makes it more compact so that it takes Firefox less time to use this database on every start up. Databases are optimized to operate faster and are decreased in size. You can refer to the image below to see how it works.

You can use this application routinely like once in 1 or 2 weeks which helps to speed up your Firefox startup.

How to use ?

Using of this application is very easy – just download and start without any installation as it is a standalone portable application. When you start this application, it will show all the available applications that it supports for optimization. It can detect Firefox, Thunderbird, Chrome and Skype. By default, it checks all the applications to Optimize although you choose a specific application or a set of applications like only Firefox or Firefox with Skype. Finally, click on the Optimize button and then wait for a few seconds and it will optimize all the supported applications. In my case, it takes approximately 22 seconds to optimize Firefox, Chrome and Skype. It depends on the size of SQLITE database. Before clicking on the Optimize button, make sure you have closed all the supported applications otherwise it will show a warning.

SpeedFox is a really good application to increase startup speed of Firefox and Chrome. I suggest you should try it out once to check whether it works or not.
