You must be aware of the fact that Microsoft has removed the gadget feature from the latest Windows 8 Enterprise Edition after experiencing virus attacks on Windows due to the usage of Gadgets. It does not mean that you can never use gadgets just because there were some obscure security issues regarding Gadgets in Windows 7 and Windows 8. You can still use gadgets safely but on the condition that any new gadgets that you install must be from a reliable and trusted source. Installing gadgets from unknown sources can be harmful for your computer but as long as you are careful, you can enable gadgets feature in Windows 8 without worrying about any type of hacking. I have previously reviewed a small trick to enable gadgets feature in Windows 8 but some users found it difficult to follow as it included some manual file work. Today, I am going to cover one more freeware application known as 8GadgetPack which you can install to get the original Gadget program files on Windows 8. 8GadgetPack not only contains original Microsoft gadgets but also has some extra gadgets to make gadgets more useful on Windows 8. It will not install any third party applications or files into Windows 8. In fact, the installer will only install the original Microsoft files and set the necessary registry entries to make the gadgets work again. After installing 8GadgetPack, user will have an option to uninstall all Non-Microsoft gadgets and delete all gadget settings. They have also included an uninstaller which removes everything the installer added.
How to Install and Use 8GadgetPack?
8GadgetPack is strictly easy to install and takes only a few seconds to enable the gadgets sidebar in Windows 8. Once you install and start this application on Windows 8, you just need to right-click on the Desktop and select the Gadgets option from menu. In the Gadgets window, you can select a single gadget to show on the Desktop or you choose multiple gadgets. Along with built-in gadgets, you can install downloaded gadgets from the internet and .gadget files automatically install in Gadgets windows when you double-click on them. But make sure you have downloaded gadget files from a trusted source.
8GadgetPakc works on Windows 8 (32/64-bit) only. The Beta version of Windows 8 still contains gadgets, so the installer won’t work there. You also need to run Windows 8 in one of the following languages: Chinese (simplified), English, French, German, and Japanese.
