A good Download manager is essential when you are using the internet to download a lot of files. Download manager gives us the option to download files quickly with pause/resume features. As of now, Internet Download Manager is the most popular application on the internet because it has a number of features which are not available with any other freeware application. However, as Internet Download Manager is a paid application, internet users are always on the lookout for a free alternative and in this post, I am going to review a brand new download manager for Windows 8 called DownTango. I chose to review this application because I discovered that it is very easy to use and has a very simple user interface. It supports internet search option as well and opens the search results in the default browser.
To start downloading any link, just copy the download link and click on the Add button to enter the copied link. DownTango will start downloading files instantly and you will be able to see the downloading process clearly on its main screen. You can cancel or pause the download process any time you want by simply clicking on cancel and pause button respectively. It supports parallel downloading to download multiple links at a single time without slowing your internet browsing.
Like IDM, you can configure most of its settings according to your requirements. In the preferences window, you can limit the downloading speed, maximum threads per file and maximum parallel downloads. Limit downloading speed option is a very useful feature because you can decide the speed of downloading files to avoid any adverse effects on your browsing speed. To start downloading automatically from the browser when you click on any link, you need to enable DownTango’s web browser integration option and make sure you restart your browser. Once you enable this option from DownTango’s preferences window, you won’t need to add the download link manually anymore. It can be integrated with the most popular browsers, i.e. MS Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. I would like to recommend DownTango download manager to all Windows 8 users if they are looking for any freeware and easy to use download manager with rich features.
DownTango works perfectly on Windows XP, Vista, 7 and Windows 8.
