Bring Windows 8 “Win+X” Menu into Windows XP, Vista and 7
Posted in Windows 7 By Sandeep Yadav On April 10, 2012 824 ViewsFor my regular and new users, I always publish posts on the latest topics and since last month we have been covering many articles on Windows 8. It is well known that Windows 8 is a completely new OS that is still in its beta stage but it has some features that are pretty interesting. Win+X menu gives quick access to all menu programs and many other locations. It is a standalone portable exe file developed by a deviantART user. DeviantART is already popular in publishing Windows customization applications to increase productivity of Windows. WinPlusX is an application which gives you quick access to Network connections, Device Manager, Disk Management, Control Panel and so on.
There is no need to install this application on Windows; to start it, just double click on the downloaded exe file and it will automatically appear in Windows Taskbar. Now, there are two ways to start this application. The first one is to right click on the WinPlusX icon from the taskbar to access all the shortcuts and the other way is to press Windows + X key together. I had written about a similar launcher a couple of days earlier. To read my other posts on launchers, please visit the following links:

As you can see in above image, most of the programs and Windows settings can be accessed easily. If you are not happy with the available shortcuts, you can add further more from WinPlusX Options. To add a new program, click on Add New and browse the file or any program that you want to access using this application. In WinPlusX Options, there are options available to remove any shortcut of files/programs and Exit from the application as well. I personally think that it helps to remove unwanted icons and shortcuts from the desktop. You can also remove the applications pinned to your Taskbar. So, in all, it can be a good launcher application which gives you quick access to all Windows programs and helps save your time.
There is nothing more to say about this application as it has a very simple interface and limited settings.
