I’m sure I don’t need to introduce Ease of Access in Windows 7 and Windows 8 but for those who are unfamiliar with the term, it is the special menu which appears at the login screen in Windows 7 and Windows 8 and gives you access to some extra commands. As we are talking about Windows 8 here so in Windows 8, Ease of Access button offers narrator, magnifier, high contrast, on-screen keyboard, sticky keys and filter keys. These are some basic commands that you can access directly from the login screen without logging into Windows. However, most Windows 8 users don’t use all these commands because all Ease of Access commands are not that useful. Only a limited number of Windows users like to use them and that too in rare circumstances.
To make Ease of Access menu more useful by adding Logon Screen Screenshot option, Lock Screen Screenshot option, CMD Prompt, Powershell, Registry Editor, Run Dialog and Task Manager commands there is now a freeware application available which has been developed by another popular website TheWindowsClub.
Ease of Access Replacer is a freeware customization tool which is able to customize Windows 8 Ease of Access menu and add some more useful quick access commands that I mentioned above. Ease of Access Replacer will add all the following commands in your Windows 8 Ease of Access menu:
- Logon Screen Screenshot: Take a screenshot of the Logon Screen. Logon Screenshots are saved to C:\Screenshots.
- Lock Screen Screenshot: Take a screenshot of the Lock Screen. Lock Screen Screenshots are saved to C:\Screenshots.
- CMD Prompt: Opens a Command Prompt.
- Powershell: Opens a Powershell Prompt.
- Registry Editor: Opens the Registry Editor.
- Run Dialog: Opens the Run Dialog.
- Task Manager: Opens the Task Manager.
Ease of Access Replacer is a user friendly tool as it has only one button i.e. Install on its main interface. To use this application, just download Ease of Access Replacer and extract the package file using any good extractor program like 7-ZIP, WinRAR or Win-Zip. After extracting the compressed package, open it and start the exe file, eoar.exe, and click on the Install button. Once installed, you need to Logoff your Windows 8 to get the effects or in some cases, you need to restart Windows to apply changes.
Now try the new Ease of Access menu from the Login screen and check whether the installed application works or not. If you have successfully installed the application, your Ease of Access menu will look like the image below.
Note: This application supports screenshot feature and is able to take screenshots of Lock Screen as well as the Login Screen. By default, all the screenshots taken by this application are stored in C:\Screenshots location.
Ease of Access Replacer works with Windows 8 and Windows 7 in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
